This is a truly bilingual publication in German and English, following the precedent of the “Atlas of radiographic anatomy of the dog and cat” by Schebitz & Wilkens (1986). It deals with the technical details of how to X-ray psittacine birds, pigeons and birds of prey, and portrays (in 163 radiographs and 114 diagrams) their anatomy and various disorders detectable by radiography.
This liberally illustrated atlas is concerned with the radiographic examination of normal and diseased birds.
The experienced radiologist finds radiographs of birds easier to interpret than those of either dogs or cats. The birds’ air sac system produces a negative contrast in the radiograph between the organs. Furthermore, there are fewer (presently recognized) disease patterns to identify radiologically.
